Psychotherapy Services

We provide counselling and psychotherapy to children and adolescents who are feeling stuck in some aspect of their lives. Many of the clients we support are feeling stressed, worried, anxious, sad, or angry, and are having some difficulty at home or school.

Psychotherapy typically begins with an in-depth interview with parents or caregivers, followed by a variety of engaging assessment activities with the child or adolescent, in order to better understand the situation. Goal setting and planning are the next important steps in psychotherapy, followed by sessions with your child or adolescent to further understand and support them in order to build skills and facilitate positive change. Parents or caregivers are an important part of this process, and are involved in sessions as needed throughout the course of psychotherapy.

As an alternative to individual anxiety treatment for children and adolescents, we also offer SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions), a treatment designed to address child and adolescent anxiety through working directly with parents.

When providing psychotherapy, our approach is eclectic, and will vary depending on the presenting challenges. We are trained and practice in modalities such as Cognitive-Behavioural perspective (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and collaborative problem solving (CPS).
